What is argentine tango?

Argentine tango is a social couple dance that originated in Argentina and is danced all over the world today.
It's less about fixed steps and more about interaction – moving together to music.

In practice, this means that:

  • you dance in pairs
  • the movement is adapted in the moment, together
  • focus is on contact, balance and direction

Argentine tango is much easier to learn than many people first think – especially when you start with clear frameworks and calm progression.

Do I need a partner or experience?

No. You can come alone or with a partner. You don't need any previous dance experience to start.

During lessons, you can sometimes switch partners in exercises, but you can always opt out if you want. We as instructors will not prioritize partner changes.
We prioritize safety and clarity.

Roles (leading/following) are not linked to gender and can be explored at a pace that feels good.

How does the first lesson go?

The goal is for you to understand the basics and feel confident –
not that you should “know how to tango”.

A first lesson usually includes:

  • walking and direction – how you move together
  • simple exercises for balance and contact
  • clear structure without any requirement to know anything

You don't need to be an extrovert.
Many introverts thrive in tango because communication is through movement, not words.
